Description about the project:
Introduction:
Under the guidance of Professor Anup Mahrana, our team embarked on a project focused on enhancing the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of the StockX mobile application. StockX, a renowned e-commerce platform connecting sellers and buyers of various products, serves as the backdrop for our efforts to revamp its mobile app interface, streamline the customer journey, and introduce innovative features to enrich the user experience.
Brand Selection:
For our project, we chose to collaborate with StockX, a leading name in the e-commerce industry known for its marketplace of authentic and exclusive products, including sneakers, streetwear, watches, luxury goods and more. With a vast user base and a reputation for facilitating secure transactions, StockX provided an ideal platform for us to apply UX/UI principles and enhance its mobile application’s functionality and aesthetics.
Project Scope:
Our project encompassed two primary objectives: customer journey mapping and improving the mobile application’s user experience. To achieve these goals, we employed a comprehensive approach, involving research, analysis, design iterations, and prototyping.
Customer Journey Mapping:
One of the foundational elements of our project was the creation of a customer journey map, aimed at understanding the user’s interactions and experiences throughout their engagement with the StockX platform. Through qualitative research methods such as user interviews, surveys, and usability testing, we identified pain points, preferences, and opportunities for improvement across various touchpoints.
Based on our findings, we developed a detailed customer journey map outlining the user’s actions, emotions, and motivations at each stage of their interaction with the StockX mobile application. This holistic view allowed us to pinpoint areas where the user experience could be enhanced, informing our subsequent design decisions and feature implementations.
Improving User Experience:
Building upon insights gleaned from the customer journey mapping process, our team focused on refining the StockX mobile application’s user experience to deliver a seamless and intuitive interface. We conducted heuristic evaluations and usability audits to identify usability issues and design inconsistencies, paving the way for iterative improvements.
Key enhancements included:
1. Streamlined Navigation: We restructured the app’s navigation hierarchy to prioritize essential features and simplify the user’s journey from browsing to purchasing.
2. Enhanced Search Functionality: We optimized the search feature to provide more relevant and accurate results, incorporating filters and sorting options to improve product discovery.
3. Live Bidding Feature: As a distinctive addition, we introduced a live bidding feature for rare and exclusive products, such as limited-edition Nike sneakers, luxury bags, and accessories. This feature added an element of excitement and urgency, catering to collectors and enthusiasts seeking unique items.
4. Interactive Product Details: We redesigned the product detail pages to include interactive elements such as 360-degree views, zoomable images, and user-generated content to provide buyers with a comprehensive understanding of the product’s condition and authenticity.
5. Personalized Recommendations: Leveraging data analytics and machine learning algorithms, we implemented personalized recommendation engines to suggest relevant products based on the user’s browsing history, preferences, and purchase behavior.
Prototype Development:
In parallel with UX/UI enhancements, our team developed a high-fidelity prototype showcasing the proposed changes and new features for the StockX mobile application. Utilizing industry-standard design tools such as Sketch or Adobe XD, we created interactive mockups and wireframes to visualize the user interface and simulate user interactions.
The prototype served as a tangible representation of our design recommendations, enabling stakeholders to preview the proposed improvements and gather feedback for further refinement. Through iterative prototyping and user testing cycles, we iteratively fine-tuned the design to ensure alignment with user needs and business objectives.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, our project aimed to elevate the user experience and customer journey for the StockX mobile application through strategic UX/UI enhancements and innovative feature implementations. By conducting customer journey mapping, refining the user interface, and introducing novel features like live bidding, we sought to enrich the platform’s functionality, engage users more effectively, and maintain StockX’s position as a premier destination for authentic and exclusive products in the e-commerce landscape.
